With years of experience in consumer electronics and a stellar international reputation, Vestel has created a smart phone that aims to make life easier for its users. The design philosophy of simplicity is at the core of this device, eliminating complexity and providing a user-friendly experience. The collaboration between designers and engineers has resulted in a harmonious blend of sleek design, innovative materials, and ergonomic features.
The bottom cover of the Daphne smart phone is coated with a soft-touch material, ensuring a comfortable grip. This attention to detail enhances the overall user experience. The design team has also incorporated a functional button with a metallic finishing v, serving as an iconic design element that represents the brand. This unique feature sets the Daphne apart from its competitors and engages customers with brand loyalty.
The realization technology used in the cosmetic parts of the Daphne smart phone is the NCVM plating technology. This cutting-edge technology allows for the application of various cosmetic options, including chrome effects, patterns, and textures, using a single back cover molding.
Measuring 135.2mm in height, 67.6mm in width, and 9.1mm in depth, the Daphne smart phone weighs a mere 124.7 grams. Its compact size and lightweight design make it a convenient companion for everyday use.
The Daphne smart phone runs on Google's Android OS, providing users with all the advantages of this operating system. With a 4.3-inch touch screen display, a 5MP camera, and connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, and GPS, the Daphne meets all the technological requirements of the smart phone market.
The project to design the Daphne smart phone began in August 2012 at Vestel's R&D center in Manisa, Turkey, and was completed in February 2014 at Vestel City, also in Manisa. The device was showcased at the World Mobile Congress in February 2014, garnering attention and praise from industry professionals.
The design of the Daphne smart phone is the result of extensive research on consumer needs in the domestic market and global consumer trends. Mobile market research, focus groups, surveys, trend analyses, and anthropometric and ergonomic data were utilized to create a design line that caters to real consumer needs.
The challenges faced by the Vestel ID Team in designing the Daphne smart phone were twofold. Firstly, they aimed to create a design that not only satisfied consumer needs but also reflected the brand's mobile device ideology and identity. Secondly, the team sought to create a semiotic expression of the brand by incorporating an iconic design element. The triangle-shaped semiotic element with a metallic finishing v achieves this goal, setting the Daphne apart from its competitors and establishing a strong connection with brand-loyal customers.
The Daphne smart phone has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2014. This award is a testament to the device's outstanding expertise, technical characteristics, and artistic skill. The Daphne smart phone evokes positive feelings, amazement, and wonder, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence.
